Sangha and Care
When I sit down to craft these monthly communications, I like to look at what we have scheduled for the month ahead and within those offerings very often a theme emerges.
In January, we spoke a lot about practice, because with the messaging of the new year, there’s often a lot of pressure to make some sort of commitment or resolution. But within practice we can shift that narrative.
This month I’m finding the theme is turning to care. Our culture is sending a lot of messages around glamorized self-care, and what love means, often in a romantic context. But there is more to care than self indulgence and luxury. Care in the context of community can come in the form of showing up. Sometimes that is showing up for ourselves in the most unglamorous sorts of ways, sometimes it’s showing up for each other.
The theme of care and community extends to our offerings this month, and we can see the opportunities to practice together as opportunities to practice care: to care for ourselves and for one another. Whether care looks like sustaining your regular practice, giving your self space to rest, contributing to a community class, or can be found in exploring the other events happening this month, may the month ahead be nourishing for you and the communities you are a part of.
With Gratitude,
